I dyed my hair black, but decided to go back to my natural blond today. I have tried to bleach my hair TWICE now, but only the roots are going blond! The tips of my hair are now a dark red, and will not go blond. What am I doing wrong? I have left the bleach in for 3 hours now with the hope that it will finally go blond. Should I go for a third bleach treatment?

STOP right now unless you wand to be bald. im a hairdresser and have experiance with bleach. the reason your roots are blond is because thats virgin. if the ends havent gotten lighter with 2 times you bleach them they arnt going to especially if your hair color was from the drug store or grocery store those are really hard to get out. so stay away from those. your hair cuticle is too blown out. dont leave the bleach on so long because its only damaging ur hair. i know ive gone through it my self. ur best bet is to go back to one dark solid color and get a hair cut and consult a good stylist.

you don't necessarily have to go black just dark enough to cover the orange. and you should use a semi permanent color so it only deposits color and wont damage your hair any more. Report It

if you keep bleaching it all your hair is going to fall out. give it a rest. its gonna take longer since your hair is black. its not gonna go from black to blond just like that. so just wait a few days and try again

DO NOT GO FOR A THIRD TREATMENT... it's probably just due to the fact that your hair is already damaged. Maybe you should try trimming it and see if it takes then.

I know how you feel. I have to sit under the dryer for 40 minutes to get my hair to go blonde, and that is with a 40 volume bleach! Go to a hair dresser and try to get it done. Their bleach tends to work better, but I have heard that manic panic bleach works well and they are used to bleaching out color because most of the people who use it color their hair frequently. And it is not good to leave bleach on that long seeing as it is a strong chemical and you don't want to harm your scalp. Eventually your hair will get blonde, mine always does. YOu should use deep conditioners however to rejuvinate your hair after the bleach.

When you bleach your hair you are actually dissolving part of each individual hair. When you bleach for too long or too many times you will risk dissolving the hair altogether!!!

I would advise cutting some hair off before putting more bleach in there. If that isn't an option for you I'd go see a hairstylist.... they will make sure that you aren't soon bald!!!

I think you should stick with the darker shades of brunettes, blacks, and even reds. Although if you are dyeing to go Lighter (no pun intended) then try going up a few shades every couple of weeks to see how it looks without the immediate change. Whenever you feel like you are deffinately out of your comfort zone, then stop. HTH

depending on how dark your natural color is ,i would suggest to see your hairstylist. I am a registered hairstylist and have seen the at home tragic outcomes. It is best to spend the money and end up with what you desire then to try it yourself and end up with less then you started with.

I don't think a light blonde would suit your complexion, look for a softer caramel or light hazel colour instead. It will bring out the colour of your eyes and flatter you ... the wrong sort of blonde could end up with you looking like a photographic negative!!!!

you could try going a lighter brown to start with then go lighter.

i think everyone is right, why not have high lights and low lights that would look so much better. if you go full head blonde you would not look right and full head blonde is sooooooo out. having low lights will keep it looking natural and sexy.

generally black doesn't look good on people with light hair like you. i'ma need a picture to see if it would suit you or not.

if you wanna go darker, go medium brown (or even a lighter dark brown).

It's always fun to try new things but when wanting to due hair darker I say test it first. Try one of those temporary wash of color shapoos first so you can at least get an idea if you like it dark before you committ to it. I have dyed my hair black several times and it is hard to get out once it's there. If you do dye it and you don't like it, try wasing it out with Dawn liquid dishwashing soap. The good old blue stuff will strip most of it out with out damaging your hair like a chemical stripper would do. After a couple of washings, make sure to use a heavy conditioning treatment. I like ION protein rich conditioning pack.

as for you i would first try a brown like a honey brown or get brown with honey highlights

test those first if you like it keep it... then if you still want to have black hair then dye it black because....black is very hard to get out you would have to grow it out. GOOD LUCK

btw...the first few days after you dye your hair you cannot wear light colors if your hair is down it may still bleed on the shirts unless you blow dry it. you will notice your hair to stop bleeding after the 3rd wash ...

Maybe its because you are not eating enough. I've heard about women who ate very little or not enough protein or carbohydrates tend to lose hair. Do you mean chunks of hair falling out, or a few strands? Its normal to lose a few strands of hair a day

Garnier is cheap shampoo. All their products are cheap. (Sorry, it's true!) Time to invest in something else that is better and very gentle.

Make sure you use a good conditioner. If you aren't your hair can brake off and it will look like you are losing more than you are.

Second... try using products that have ingredients you can pronounce.. in other words use all natural products on your hair/body.

Keep changing shampoos. Don't just stick to one. It will keep your hair in top shape too. I used to use the same shampoo and had the same problem. Then I switched and to herbal essences all better now.

Well there are many things you can do.

First, you NEED to go to the doctor. So vitiamins may help. You might be low on some. I think its b12?(Ask your doctor) Also are you on any type of medicine? You could also use a thickining shampoo.

First off, calm down. Stress can be a big cause of things like breakouts and..HAIR LOSS. So whatever is bothering you, try to take a breath and relax. Do something to de-stress. Give yourself time to work out so you can be healthy, time to do something YOU want to do, time for yourself. Second, don't use Garnier. I tried that stuff and it made my hair stiff, like straw. I don't like that stuff. Pretty much all shampoos are the same, I like Dove a lot. Pantene makes my hair a little oily, but I like Herbal Essense, Neutrogena... Also, try to eat one egg (or two egg whites) evey day. Eggs are full of protien and vitamins B and E, which is what makes your hair, skin, nails and eyes healthy. It might not make your hair grow more, but it should prevent more from falling out. Strengthens you from the inside. Vitamins certianly wouldn't hurt but it takes about three months for your body to start absorbing "raw" vitamins fully. Oh, and if you have it for breakfast, it keeps you feelling more full until lunch. Added plus. Other than that, just make sure that you're eating a pretty balanced diet, and most of all try to wind down. My guess is that stress is a major factor. If you keep having this problem, you may want to see a doctor.

OK. So I am a teenage and I have naturally golden blond hair. I want to color it dark brown because I think that would compliment my skin tone more.

No it is amazing I have went from dark to light and light to dark without notice at times. You will be a beautiful brunette and no one will think you are cheesy, hey they might no even notice right away. Good Luck !!!!!!!!!

Okay, so i dont think that it would look bad changing your hair from blonde to brown because since youve had the same color for sooo long then it would draw more positive attention to you if you die it a diff. cute color.

Just make sure your careful in picking your color.

I am a natural blonde, but I went lighter ...I have found it really hard to go darker when you have blonde hair, it has come out purpley grey....I would go to a proffesional if your going to make a drastic change like blonde to brunette. And who cares what others think...do what you like!!

no, if you are changing your hair color from light to dark, it looks good. but if are changing from dark to light it would look weird. plus changing from blonde to dark brown will not show a big difference. i think it would look nice. you should try the temperary hair dye, if alot of pleople say it looks bad then you dont have to deal with the color for ever, only for a couple of days.
