When you say blonder i am just assuming you mean a platnium blonde, which is different than a yellow blonde or dirty blonde color, when i buy over the counter i use clairol nice and easy #87 it is a platinum blonde and i do not get orange in my hair, i also use a toner right after washing out the product and my hair is fine. They sell the toner at Sally's and it should be blue(typically) for blondes. And remember start at the top of your head and the last ten minutes or so run the rest of product(clairol) to the ends as they are porous already(been prev dyed blonde) so they will not need very long to process. And to keep your hair nice and soft deep condition a week after doing this.

get it done professionally no matter what. the do it yourself kits often do turn your hair orange, and then in the long run it will ruin your hair because you'll have to dye it back to get the orange out, and then blonde again...

To lighten previously colored hair you must use bleach. Regular hair color can not "lift" colored hair. Bleaching your own hair can be risky. I would recommend getting a bleach partial foil on the crown of your head. That should cost that much and it's a lot less expensive that paying somebody for a color correction and possibly ruining your hair.

DON'T DO IT! Trust me. I had dirty blonde hair and wanted to color it blonder just like you. It's harder to go lighter because you have the bleach the hair which weakens the hair. I dyed it and it turned brassy orangeish and yellowish! I immediately went to a salon by my house and they died it to a light ash blonde. I'm thrilled with it now. But, yeah don't do it. Just go with highlights, that's what I'm doing from now on!
