I dyed my hair black, but decided to go back to my natural blond today. I have tried to bleach my hair TWICE now, but only the roots are going blond! The tips of my hair are now a dark red, and will not go blond. What am I doing wrong? I have left the bleach in for 3 hours now with the hope that it will finally go blond. Should I go for a third bleach treatment?

STOP right now unless you wand to be bald. im a hairdresser and have experiance with bleach. the reason your roots are blond is because thats virgin. if the ends havent gotten lighter with 2 times you bleach them they arnt going to especially if your hair color was from the drug store or grocery store those are really hard to get out. so stay away from those. your hair cuticle is too blown out. dont leave the bleach on so long because its only damaging ur hair. i know ive gone through it my self. ur best bet is to go back to one dark solid color and get a hair cut and consult a good stylist.

I know how you feel. I have to sit under the dryer for 40 minutes to get my hair to go blonde, and that is with a 40 volume bleach! Go to a hair dresser and try to get it done. Their bleach tends to work better, but I have heard that manic panic bleach works well and they are used to bleaching out color because most of the people who use it color their hair frequently. And it is not good to leave bleach on that long seeing as it is a strong chemical and you don't want to harm your scalp. Eventually your hair will get blonde, mine always does. YOu should use deep conditioners however to rejuvinate your hair after the bleach.

When you bleach your hair you are actually dissolving part of each individual hair. When you bleach for too long or too many times you will risk dissolving the hair altogether!!!

I would advise cutting some hair off before putting more bleach in there. If that isn't an option for you I'd go see a hairstylist.... they will make sure that you aren't soon bald!!!

I think you should stick with the darker shades of brunettes, blacks, and even reds. Although if you are dyeing to go Lighter (no pun intended) then try going up a few shades every couple of weeks to see how it looks without the immediate change. Whenever you feel like you are deffinately out of your comfort zone, then stop. HTH

I don't think a light blonde would suit your complexion, look for a softer caramel or light hazel colour instead. It will bring out the colour of your eyes and flatter you ... the wrong sort of blonde could end up with you looking like a photographic negative!!!!

It's always fun to try new things but when wanting to due hair darker I say test it first. Try one of those temporary wash of color shapoos first so you can at least get an idea if you like it dark before you committ to it. I have dyed my hair black several times and it is hard to get out once it's there. If you do dye it and you don't like it, try wasing it out with Dawn liquid dishwashing soap. The good old blue stuff will strip most of it out with out damaging your hair like a chemical stripper would do. After a couple of washings, make sure to use a heavy conditioning treatment. I like ION protein rich conditioning pack.

as for you i would first try a brown like a honey brown or get brown with honey highlights

test those first if you like it keep it... then if you still want to have black hair then dye it black because....black is very hard to get out you would have to grow it out. GOOD LUCK

Garnier is cheap shampoo. All their products are cheap. (Sorry, it's true!) Time to invest in something else that is better and very gentle.

Make sure you use a good conditioner. If you aren't your hair can brake off and it will look like you are losing more than you are.

Second... try using products that have ingredients you can pronounce.. in other words use all natural products on your hair/body.

First, you NEED to go to the doctor. So vitiamins may help. You might be low on some. I think its b12?(Ask your doctor) Also are you on any type of medicine? You could also use a thickining shampoo.

First off, calm down. Stress can be a big cause of things like breakouts and..HAIR LOSS. So whatever is bothering you, try to take a breath and relax. Do something to de-stress. Give yourself time to work out so you can be healthy, time to do something YOU want to do, time for yourself. Second, don't use Garnier. I tried that stuff and it made my hair stiff, like straw. I don't like that stuff. Pretty much all shampoos are the same, I like Dove a lot. Pantene makes my hair a little oily, but I like Herbal Essense, Neutrogena... Also, try to eat one egg (or two egg whites) evey day. Eggs are full of protien and vitamins B and E, which is what makes your hair, skin, nails and eyes healthy. It might not make your hair grow more, but it should prevent more from falling out. Strengthens you from the inside. Vitamins certianly wouldn't hurt but it takes about three months for your body to start absorbing "raw" vitamins fully. Oh, and if you have it for breakfast, it keeps you feelling more full until lunch. Added plus. Other than that, just make sure that you're eating a pretty balanced diet, and most of all try to wind down. My guess is that stress is a major factor. If you keep having this problem, you may want to see a doctor.

I am a natural blonde, but I went lighter ...I have found it really hard to go darker when you have blonde hair, it has come out purpley grey....I would go to a proffesional if your going to make a drastic change like blonde to brunette. And who cares what others think...do what you like!!

no, if you are changing your hair color from light to dark, it looks good. but if are changing from dark to light it would look weird. plus changing from blonde to dark brown will not show a big difference. i think it would look nice. you should try the temperary hair dye, if alot of pleople say it looks bad then you dont have to deal with the color for ever, only for a couple of days.

Go to Salley Hansen and get a cap to pull her hair through and some blue dye. Just make sure not to put the dye against the cap or it may leak through and create a cheetah look on her hair. Good luck!

Take long strips of foil and lay the pieces she wants blue onto the foil. Paint the blue on, then fold the foil up two or three times to keep the blue hair hidden in the foil. Keep doing this for every piece she wants blue.

you need a frost and tip cap, a hook to pull the hair out and some blue dye. Make sure that her hair isn't wet and all the gel or hairspray is brushed out first. pull out of cap, leave on for recommended time, then rinse out with cap still on .

use a rat tail comb. part the hair off where you want to streak. use foil. with comb part off what you want streaked in small sections. put foil in between the hair you dont want streaked and streaked hair. apply color to the parting with foil under it.wrap foil around until all pieces she wants streaked are colored and wrapped in foil.the longer it is left on the more it will stain the blonde hair blue. use heat if you want more permanent affect.

conditioner generally coats your hair darling. It will be harder for your colour to stick if there is a sheen of conditioner there. If you don't want the colour to be permanent, then it should be fine.

The only natural way to lighten your hair is with lemon juice and sunlight. Be careful..if your hair has red undertones you will get redder instead of blonder.

I would suggest going to a reputable salon and have them use something mild on just portions of your hair (foils maybe).

DO NOT use anything like Sun-in or spray on lightners!! Talk about damage! About the only way to lighten it with out being done naturally by the sun is maybe some mild high lights or color. Usually if done properly, the damage is very minimal. HTH

When it's sunny outside you can put lemon juice on it and it will get lighter...otherwise just the sun by itself helps already!! I have blond/brown hair and in summer my hair just lightens up alot it should work with you too!!

You can use Touch Of Sun. You can buy it at places like Walmart thats how I used to put blonde streaks in my hair. But it does damage your hair a little bit.

I dyed my naturally light blonde hair a color called "light ash brown" 5 days ago. It turned out a blueish-grey color and looks horrible. Well you can get your natural color back but its going to take some work.

First of all it turned blueish gray because your hair grabbed the base color in the product you used. You probably did not leave it on long enough.

To get your hair back to its natural shade go to Sally Beauty Supply and choose a color that is closest to your natural with a NEUTRAL base. You are also going to need a product called Instant Whip and 40 volume developer.

Use 2 oz of color, 2 oz of developer and 1/2 oz of Instant Whip. Apply the mixture to your hair and wait 40 minutes. Your natural color will be back.

Wait 1 week and yes you can highlight. Just make sure you invest in a good conditioner. All this coloring can dry out your hair.

you need to balance the "ash" out with some red. Get a brown color like you're wanting with a reddish hue to it. The red with balance out the green of the ash. Something that has an R after the number. A stylist would be the best bet.

Bummer. You'll have to go to a professional in order to guarantee that you won't go "orange". Because you will. Why did you go darker anyhow. You can buy wigs, really nice ones too, at a costume and display store (Yellow Pages) and pay only $20-$35 for cool looking ones. Buy going darker you have messed up the chemical makeup of your hair. You need to go to a professional, should have just bought a wig, because it is going to cost you close to $100 to fix the damage you did. Having them do it you are guaranteed it will turn out ok! Don't do anything more yourself...you'll be even more sorry than you are now! but, yeah, bummer girlfriend! If you got it from the salon type place and didn't buy developer to go with it, that would be why your hair did this.

I would say just go to your local store and buy a hairdye called Feria in a brown color you like. They turn out great and shimmery/shiney.

You will be sorry trying to bleach your hair back, you can't just dye it back blonde, you will have to bleach it and it can and will ruin your hair if you don't know what your doing.

There IS a CHANCE of it turning bright orange, I bleached mine with peroxide and bleach and it turned platnuim blonde, it was meant to look like that so yeah.

It will get damaged because bleach strips the color of your hair, and it will get very thin. It also takes the oils out.

You can dye your extensions any color you want but since they are most likely dyed already, it might be difficult to acheive the platinum color you want. Where did you buy your extensions? I have been wearing extensions for 10+ years and I have seen extensions that are in all colors of the rainbow and you should be able to find what you're looking for.

Out of curiosity, I looked online for hair extensions and they had what you're looking for...24" hair extensions but they are really expensive! Depending on where you live, you should be able to go to a beauty supply place (not Sally's) and find some inexpensive, good quality human hair. If you have no luck, I would call a beauty shop that specializes in ethnic hair and they should be able to direct you to a shop where you can purchase platinum tresses that extend to your butt. Well, bleach it again. Bleach will make your hair go gross and yellow, so you might want to do it again. Or dye darker over it, and as long as you take care of your hair, it shouldn't destroy. I've dyed and bleached my hair several times, and it's as healthy as can be.

I'm guessing you were originally blond? it all depends on what color, what shade of that color, what color you dyed it, what product you used to dye it, etc. all of those things factor into it, so its probably best to go to a hairdresser.

Your best bet would be to choose a darker color, and apply an all-over color. Otherwise, go to a salon and have them do a color correction. B/c I would say, that you could bleach the spots that are still ginger, but chances are if you're doing it at home, the bleach you're using isn't the best out there..and could be extremely damaging to your hair.

So, if you don't want to look like a rainbow lollipop, go have them do a color correction...it can get expensive, but it'll be worth it.

Yeh, you are going to hurt your hair if you can keep playing with it. The best solution is to visit a hairdresser. If you want to give it one last go. I would try dying it a light brown colour, it will soften the red tones without going to dark.

Honestly, there are some girls that just like to sleep around...but those girls aren't really that great. There are a few girls your age that just want a casual realtionship. But by the time girls get to be your age, they are just finishing up college and are looking to settle down. My suggestion is just find a girl that you like and then see where it takes you. i had dark brown/black hair (dyed) and i just recently bleached. the first box took me to pale yellow with dark orange (my hairs uneven) after 5 hours. the second box took my roots and the majority to white (what i wanted), but theres like 40% of it thats like an orangey yellow. i have a box of blond hair dye. im not sure if i should just try to cover everything with it and hope it all comes out even, or if i should go buy one more box of bleach and try to lift the orange. any advise?

ive been deep conditioning, and my hairs in pretty good shape. im just worried about getting bleach on my roots and having my hair fall out or something because its already so white.

I think you could try bleachign it one more time on the bottom, but with 30 volume peroxide. It should kee the roots the same, and make the rest less yellow. And to be really safe, I reccommend trying not to put it on your roots. Then, go ahead and use the blonde dye. And keep conditioning it like you are, and consider using hot oil treatment on your hair.

Be very careful have done that myself and I can tell you that if you do get that bleach on the white or just leave it too long on the orange it will melt. I am like the last person I would put a light brown back in to give your dark hair some depth. Before I would bleach it again I would seek a professional on this. They may have a bleach rinse they can make up to lift just the orange or put a toner on the whole thing to even it out. A toner would probably be your best bet since it has not bleach in it. It is just pure color.

. I have melted mine to the point that it was like paste and all you had to do was pull on it and it would come out in your hand like puddy. Be careful.

If black was the last color you've had in your hair then you may be able to go to a professional and have the color stripped from your hair, leaving you with your natural color. If your natural color is anything lighter than black then it will most likely be okay to bleach it and dye your hair blonde OVER the bleach. Bleach on any color hair never really comes out as planned FYI.. you'll get the best results with using an actualy hair dye. Another FYI.. by using this many chemicals on your hair at once you'll be causing some major hair damage, and you'll be possibly losing a little more hair than normal, it will go away however, but for the best alternative, (a little more costly) don't do this whole process yourself, you should have a professional do it for you. its a slow process but its the best way. you high light your hair lighter and lighter and lighter. but make sure to wait about two weeks before you add more highlights. and to nourish your hair. k. goodluck

Oh thats horrible! You should get proffesional help to ensure that your hair will be treated properly. Go to a salon and have your hair died (or highlighted all over) the color that you want. They will care for your hair in the healthiest way possible!

whatever you do do not dye it blonde! i did it when mine was dark brown and it turned ginger. (no offence to ginger haired peopel) but you need to go to the hair dressers and get it stripped or wait until it washes out if its semi permanent and also stop straightening it or curling it if it's fried. you will end up like me where you have bad split ends and everytime you brush your hair, hairs fall out. =[ Hope i was helpful

well my sister has really dark hair like you...hers is black..she once dyed in blonde..but first you do have to bleach it..you dnt want to bleachit alot or it will damage your hair..just do it once..then wait a few days and then dye it blonde...the reason it goes orange is because your hair is so dark and you are trying to dye it a liter color

And if not i saw an add a few days ago for something lorel makes and it is suppose to take out the color without messing your hair up and you can redye it the same do. I just got my hair cut today and it looks horrible! My bangs are literally butchered such that they're about halfway between my hair-line and my eyebrows (and not in a good way). I have no layers and it's shoulder length.

My hair is frizzy (I have damaged brown/blond hair with split ends and the whole deal), and I don't know what to do! I could manage it before (my bangs at least were cute, so I could pull it up in a half pony-tail, etc). I don't want to hide behind a base-ball cap for the rest of my life....

unless u want it to be cut more/shorter dont go and cut it agen. it will grow back.

for the photo. simple do your hair in a curly style. there are some many nice sexy looks that u cant acheive that will bring off any bad hair cut. dont give up hope. go to another hair salon. and get there to style it nicely for u the day before pictures. make them show u how to maintain the look. get velcro rollers if u dont already have. good luck =D

I once had the same problem. My hair was a mess and it was time to take year book picture. I complain to the person that was cutting my hair and I think it annoyed them even more. She cut my hair supper short. I ended up shaving my head and told everyone that I was having chemo done.

OK for your bangs try parting them to the side it might make it hard to see any flaws for your hair go to a good hair dresser make sure she's been working fora whille and ask to get layer

hmm..I had the same problem..my mom had cut mine..and she wasn't seeing good and she cut my bangs way too short. =(] it was terrible.

so yeah the onnly advice I have for you..is to use mane 'n tale shampoo/conditioner..find it in almost any stores..it makes your hair grow sooooooo fast..o_0 its scary. I used it once..and it made my hair grow like in the next week it grew like 1 cm..seriously good growing tecneque.

Yikes how awful for you :( :( Most hairdressers have no idea of the true length of ONE inch. I just found a great hairdresser. But before we started I demanded that she show me her concept of what one inch actually was. Since she was right on I let her cut my hair.

Hair only grows one half inch per month. Do you or can you get any hairpieces that would match your hair? Or get a wig that is close to your style and color

I feel for you! This has happened to me SO many times in my life! : ( Let me guess Great clips or Super Cuts?? Go and demand your money back, and then go to a more expensive salon and have them try to fix it. Go to your picture and smile and look your best, and if you hate the way it still looks, they offer retakes at every school in about a month! I hope everything works out for you! :) Good luck!!

orif you can try to put your bangs up. tie your hair. and pull up loose hair with a bobby pin.

or you can straighten your hair with a straightening iron. that way itll look longer cause you said your hair is frizzy.

or you can take your picture again on make-up picture day.

hmm. okay! Go back to your hair dresser and get it redone!! And if they can't do much try bobby pinning your bangs under your hair and make it so that you can't see the bobby pin and you can't tell your bangs are put back. Then try to kinda bring your hair forward and then it should look fine.

I agree you should get your money back. And to help with the frizz, if you bleached your hair last put a color on it, even if it's a super light blond that you wont even be able to see and only use half of the developer and put conditioner in the other half, this fills your cuticles to make hair more manageable temporarily. If it wasn't bleached last, the night before or even both nights sleep with conditioner in your hair and try to pin a towel or grocery bag over your hair so it doesn't dry. I think your best bet right now, and i know you're gonna hate this, but stand in front of that damn mirror until you find something that works! And I would highly recommend not letting that place even think about touching your hair again. Good luck to you!

Omg you have my sympathies....also cuz it can be hard to get an appointment in that short of a time frame.

ok first you go back to that idiot hairdresser and get your dang money back!

then you go to a DIFFERENT hair stylist...that last one obviously didnt have any idea what she was doing. Make sure the one you go to isnt cheap (i know you dont want to spend a ton, and i'm not talking $250 for a trim, but make sure this isnt a $10 cut ok? a person who knows what they're doing and knows it isnt gonna charge lightly) If you dont know of any good stylists, maybe ask a friend whose hair you like who their stylist is.

Personally, I think that is some of the dumbest sh*t in the world. I think people, regardless to what your ethnicity is, should embrace who they are. okay so last night i had the bright idea of bleaching my dyed black hair to get it to the natural color. my natural color is white platinum blond. to my surprise it turned yellow and orange. i only dyed certain strands on top. it's got this dirty look to it now. it's very healthy still though. many hairstylists tell me they can't believe what good condition my hair is in. now i want to know how i can try to get this disgusting orange and yellow out before tomorrow at 7pm. i have a huge event to go to with lots of people and this is soooo embarassing. please give me any tips on things i can do. i do not want to dye it darker. but i would like to get it a natural color quick.

Well,

to get a really good fix go to the nearest walk-in hair salon!

But if at home is where you MUST do this, than go to a store pick up a hair coloring kit ( of your natural hair color ) prefferably with a root comb to make it look natural which it is, but when you start to grow it out into literally your natural hair color it won't look like a rooty mess, but it's not mandatory or anything. Soak your hair in lemon juice for an hour, 45 mins or so. Then towl dry, then do the kit, but make sure not to over do with the coloring hair dye, because it will only make the orange uglier AND brighter, instead put it in all strands not just the orange ones.

But here's a tip, NEVER experiment with anything clothes, nails, ESPECIALLY hair the night before a big event!

It is very hard to go from dark to light in one step. I had died my red hair to bleach blonde, then tried to get to black: IT TURNED PURPLE! You are seeing the reverse effects of what my experience was. Go to a drug store and buy tomato paste and a hair color remover. Use the tomato paste on your hair (straight from the can) several times, continually rinsing. It should lighten slowly. Then when you get to a lighter orange, use the hair color remover. It is basically bleach but a lot stronger. I used this homemade recipe and it got my hair to platinum blonde, from there you can dye your hair again, or keep it if you like it that way.

You could go to a colour between the blonde and black, like a brown to try and even it out, as the colour is in the middle. You should always do the big colour changes gradually.

I have dirty blond hair naturally,6 weeks ago I dyed it lighter. Even though I purposely picked a cool shade it came out sort of yellowy and not as light as i had hoped, so 2 days ago I went for total ash blond but I didn't use a dye I just used a lightener, my mom thought she could handle it, since she has dyed her own hair for 20 years and died my hair the previous time, well she couldn't!
